Energy
Investments in the ‘energy sector’ have been a long-standing part of the OPE portfolio. With the pendulum of the global economy swinging back to a semblance of normality and the consequential impact on resource values OPE’s approach has been to continue to diversify and expand its energy portfolio through identifying a niche and strategic opportunities are whether in trading, logistics, infrastructure or technology.
Through vertical integration of its investments, OPE management expanded into exploration and production companies in North Africa, to become key players in the Gulf through investment into regional oil and gas trading companies and now in the ’20 are moving back into the African markets.
Agriculture
OPE has invested in organic biostimulants that significantly improves crop yield while reducing the amount of both fertilizer and pesticide required to maintain crop health. This improves yield profitability for farmers, and reduces adverse effects from pesticides that may contaminate soil and water-tables.
Crops using the proprietary technologies also show a significant improvement in nutritional values which have been in decline due to depletion of soil quality through industrial farming over the past century.
Technology
OPE has developed a diverse portfolio of investments into various technology-based entities with each fulfilling a tangible and immediate need in both the human health and agricultural sectors.
Each of these investments meets OPE’s stringent investment criteria that the technology must be unique and the products non-toxic to the environment.
For example, specific focus is on biosciences and in particular the well being of cellular structure of humans, animals, and plants. Providing products that deal with abiotic resistance support to crops, stem-cell enhancement, photosynthesis and increase crop yield and pest control all based on natural raw materials.
